We were delighted to work with this new client to develop a unique landscape design for their backyard this past summer. For the first phase of the project we focused on two areas – an uninspired corner of their yard and the space along the side of their garage. The goal was to create a […]

Our maintenance staff are capable, professional lawn care workers who have the knowledge and tools to keep your landscape in the best possible condition. We know you take pride in your home and we make it our business to maintain it like our own. In the section below we included some finer details on our maintenance services to answer some frequently asked questions.
The services below are a summary of our maintenance services. Our clients typically enroll in a maintenance program and enjoy a fixed monthly rate over a nine month billing period.
Our maintenance clients receive cut and edge service once a week on the same day, unless a schedule change is needed because of weather conditions. After each service visit, we ensure that any grass clippings from sidewalks and/or driveways are cleared. We understand that some communities enforce restrictions on blowers during certain months – minimal additional charges will apply for requests to clear spaces of wind blown debris. During the fall there is an additional charge to rake and remove leaves once the lawn mower no longer picks them up during normal grass cutting. If your town or village allows leaves to be left in the street, we will place them in a pile on the street in front of your property. If we must remove them, you will be charged an additional dump fee based upon the volume of leaves we must remove.
Cultivation is the process when we use a shovel to break-up and turn over the soil in your planting beds. This helps keep weed-seed from germinating and soil around planting beds from becoming compacted. You are charged based upon a per man hour charge. We recommend that 50% of the beds are cultivated each week. For example: Front yard one week and back the following.
Five Application Lawn Care Program
Our program is a premium turf program designed for the Chicagoland area. Beginning in the spring we apply fertilizer with pre-emergent. Later we spot spray dandelions and other broad leaf weeds that try to take root. If any reappear after our first application we return and spray again. Lawns that are overgrown with weeds may require MOMENTUM to get them under control. MOMENTUM, a post-emergent turf herbicide with fertilizer, controls Clover, Ground Ivy, Chickweed, and Dandelions.
Grubs have become an increasing problem over the past several years. MERIT is a broad spectrum, systemic insecticide that is effective at extremely low use rates, and delivers outstanding season long control of White Grubs in ornamental turf. MERIT is applied in July. DYLOX is a non-residual grub control that lasts for 6-8 weeks. One application may not destroy grubs in every stage, so additional applications may become ecessary if property is infested. We recommend fertilizing lawn whenever applying insecticide for the health of the lawn.
Late in summer we apply fertilizer with Iron. It is nutrient balanced for controlled growth, better disease resistance and improved drought tolerance. Winterizer is applied in fall for quick green up in spring.
Spring, Fall and Special Occasion Clean-ups
Thorough cleanup of all plant beds, cultivation, cut & edge, removal of leaves and/or plant debris. We are happy to pay special attention to specific areas upon request.
New Lawn Installation/Restoration
We install MINERAL SOD, never PEAT SOD. MINERAL SOD is a blend of elite varieties of Kentucky Bluegrass grown in rich clay loam soil. It is disease resistant and tolerant of 60% shade. Our price includes removal of existing turf, delivery & installation and rolling of new sod. We may recommend adding soil to fill low spots or to amend soil.
Machine removes soil plugs from lawn to improve oxygenation, water and nutrient absorption of compacted and/or drought stressed lawns. We have had outstanding results performing this process once in spring and then again in the fall.

It’s not about a waterfall. Or pretty trees. It’s about your nephews splashing their feet in that waterfall on the first hot day of spring. And your baby falling asleep to the sound of the rushing water shaded by the branches. This is what we mean by “we set the scene. you write the story”. We […]
One of our favorite places in the whole world is the Chicago Botanic Gardens. It is where my mom and dad found inspiration for the waterfall that they built in their front yard that has become a local attraction to those that stroll the streets of Skokie. It’s one of those places that you can […]
